Tourism Based Avant-Gardey Bashments series by Di-Andre Caprice Davis
This series of work oscillates between cultural conventions and conventions of computer software. Working within the realm of technology allows me to experiment with mediums such as computer graphics software, mobile apps, and photography. My creative process makes use of animation techniques that convert still images into GIF art. These GIFs play with concepts of timing, rhythm, and pattern negotiation. Through toying with these concepts this experimentation series,"Tourism based avant-gardey basements", allows me to convey my personal experiences and express storytelling in new and dynamic ways.

Di-Andre Caprice Davis
Bio
Di-Andre Caprice Davis was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She is a self-described experimental artist exploring new media technologies. Her work is primarily an exploration of form; engaging the opportunities afforded by new media to develop new languages that reflect a twenty-first century existence. Abstraction, computer graphics, GIF art, glitch art, mathematics, photography, science, surrealism and videography are some of the fascinations that animate her practice. She has exhibited locally, internationally and across the Caribbean. Notable exhibitions include the National Gallery of Jamaica’s Jamaica Biennial (2014 and 2017), Young Talent (2015), Digital (2016), Kingston Part 1: The City and Art (2016) and Explorations VI Engaging Abstraction (2017 – 2018) as well as in the Jamaican Pulse: Art and Politics from Jamaica and the Diaspora at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, United Kingdom (2016). She completed a two-week residency at Bluecoat, Liverpool UK (2016). At the 2017 Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, she won the award for Best Experimental Film for her work Chaotic Beauty, 2016. Chaotic Beauty was on exhibit at The Dean Collection No Commission show in Miami during the Art Basel weekend. She lives and works in Kingston.
