Mónica A. Jiménez is a poet and historian. She is currently an assistant professor of African and African diaspora studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her teaching and writing address the intersections of law, race, and empire. She is a Canto Mundo and Ford Foundation Fellow, and her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in the journals WSQ: Women Studies Quarterly, Latino Studies, and Society and Space, among others.
