sx space is our virtual platform for visual arts practice and critical discussion.
We aim to show creative visual work by Caribbean artists working in the region and elsewhere in the expanding worlds of the diasporic Caribbean. As with the rest of the Small Axe Project, sx space aims to stimulate and provoke our critical/aesthetic sensibilities. We are particularly keen to host work whose visual vocabulary is a self-conscious intervention into the inherited traditions of Caribbean visual self-understanding, that seeks to confront and engage and discommode the conventions of who and what we imagine ourselves to be, and that invites us to a restless revisionary stance in and toward the visual.
