Velma Pollard is retired senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Her major research interests have been Creole languages of the Anglophone Caribbean, the language of Caribbean literature, and Caribbean women's writing. She has published poems and stories in regional and international journals and anthologies, and her novella, Karl, won the Casa l de las Americas prize in 1992.
Samuel Furé Davis taught Spanish language and translation at the University of Ghana before accepting his current position as assistant professor of English language and Anglo-Caribbean Literature in the School of Foreign Languages, University of Havana. He is currently completing a dissertation titled “Rastafari: a (sub-) cultural alternative tendency.”
